Minister for European Affairs Frans Timmermans accepted a special map from Paul Arkwright, the British ambassador to the Netherlands, on 23 October. The map shows the main consequences of a rise in average global temperature of 4°C.
Both Ambassador Arkwright and Minister Timmermans reiterated the need to act fast in order to turn the tide. ‘We have the technology to prevent this catastrophic scenario. We owe it to our children and grandchildren’, said Timmermans. They stressed that the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are working together closely and actively to achieve a positive result at the climate conference in Copenhagen in December.
