Facilitated by The Netherlands, the UN General Assembly adopted with consensus the yearly International Criminal Court (ICC) resolution. The resolution was co-sponsored by 99 member states, including some states that have not yet ratified the ICC statute.
Due to the present evaluation of ICC policy, the United States used their explanation of vote. The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya also provided an explanation of vote, although informal consultations had transgressed quite easily. Seeing the ICC arrest warrant for President Bashir it was surprising that Sudan held a quite lenient stance during negotiations and ended up accepting the text without to many objections.
The Netherlands is satisfied with the wide support and the final result, which can be seen as a sign of wide acceptance by the international community of the work and mandate of the ICC.
