Registration Municipal Personal Records database (GBA)
Although it is not mandatory, the Protocol Department would advise staff at international organisations to register with the Municipal Personal Records Database ( Gemeentelijke Basisadministratie , GBA). The municipality uses this database to inform residents about activities in their neighbourhood. The GBA is also used by other official organisations in the Netherlands. The public health authorities, for example, rely on the information in the GBA to send out invitations for vaccinations. It is also common for official bodies to request an ‘extract’ from the GBA ( uittreksel) as proof of residence.
Registering with your municipality will not affect your registration at the Ministry or your privileges and immunities (including municipal tax status).
